Prayers in Worship

Each Sunday in worship, we offer prayers of intercession for the creation, the church and for all those in need. We mention specific and general prayers, however, we do not mention individual names during the service. We feel it is important to protect the anonymity of those we hold in prayer. We do provide space during this time for individuals to silently add prayers for issues and people they are holding in prayer.

To protect the idenity and issues of our prayer recipients, we no longer publish our prayer list, or print them in our bulletin.

Prayers can be added in three ways:

  1. Speak directly with the Pastor, staff, or prayer team lead.

  2. Fill out a Prayer Card, which are available in our pews. If you are adding a faimly member, friend, or aquaintance we request that you have permission from the person who is being added to our list.

  3. Send an email to: prayers@holycrossLC.org; please list name, issue (optional) and state that you have permission to add this person’s name to the chain.

Prayer Chain

What is a prayer chain?

A general prayer chain is a network of individuals who will receive prayer requests and who are dedicated to add your concerns to their own daily prayers.

At Holy Cross, we have an individual who gathers prayer e-mail prayer chain consisting of members. This ministry is dedicated to keeping confidentiality regarding prayer requests. To become a member of the Holy Cross prayer chain ministry please contact the prayer chain team leader.

How long does a name remain on the prayer chain?

Generally, at Holy Cross, a person remains on the prayer chain for two weeks. However, in cases of long-term illness, hospice, or by request, the members of the prayer chain will pray for a person and/or situation in need as long as requested. To request a person to remain on the prayer chain list for longer than two weeks, please contact the prayer chain team leader.

A current prayer chain is sent out weekly
